Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Ontariole, the free daily Ontario geography game at ontariole.com. By playing, you agree to them. Last updated: November 4, 2026.

The service

Ontariole is a free daily geography guessing game about Ontario, Canada. Accounts are optional, and no purchase is required for any part of the game. If we ever introduce advertising or premium features, these terms will still apply, and the privacy policy will explain any new data handling before it starts.

Who can play

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or submit a leaderboard score. If you are under 18, please have a parent or guardian's permission first. Players of any age can play practice games without an account.

Accounts

Accounts are optional. You're responsible for the details you enter and for keeping your credentials safe. Tell us at j14sinclair@hotmail.com if you think someone else is using your account.

Display names and public content

Leaderboard display names are public. Don't use a name that is offensive, that impersonates someone else, or that identifies a real person (such as your own full name, especially if you are a minor). We may decline or remove entries that break this, and anyone can report a name by emailing us.

Playing fairly

  • The daily puzzle allows one scored attempt per player per day.
  • Don't use bots, scripts, or automation to play or submit scores.
  • Don't scrape the location database or attempt to extract it in bulk.
  • Don't manipulate the leaderboard, including playing the same day's puzzle from multiple accounts.
  • Don't probe, attack, or attempt to disrupt the service or its data.

Suspension and termination

We may remove leaderboard entries, or suspend accounts, that break these terms or the law — but we aim to do so only when it's clearly needed, and you can ask us to reconsider. You can stop playing any time, and you can ask us to delete your account and entries at any time.

Availability and changes

The game is provided as-is. Features, locations, and scoring may change over time, the service may occasionally be unavailable, and parts of the game may be paused or retired. We'll try to give notice for anything major.

Intellectual property

The Ontariole game, its design, and this website are the work of the Ontariole project. Third-party rights are respected: the base map is © OpenFreeMap and OpenMapTiles, map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors, the province outline is derived from OpenStreetMap data, and location information comes from public datasets of Ontario communities.

Disclaimers and liability

Ontariole is a free game provided without warranties, to the maximum extent permitted by law. Game content may contain mistakes — if a location seems wrong, tell us. To the same extent, the Ontariole project isn't liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the game. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario. If a disagreement comes up, we'd like to sort it out directly first — email us and we'll try to resolve it in good faith. Failing that, disputes go to the courts of Ontario.

Changes and contact

If these terms change, the updated date above changes with them, and continuing to play means you accept the updated terms. Questions? Email j14sinclair@hotmail.com.
